Hood Cemetery, a.k.a The Lower Burial Ground - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
4901 Germantown Avenue
The gates to Hood Cemetery in Germantown were locked during my visit.
This land was set aside as a burial ground in 1692. In 1847, local resident William Hood donated the impressive stone archway and wall to the cemetery. Then the name of the cemetery was changed to honor him.
Forty-one Revolutionary War soldiers are buried here, along with soldiers from other ancient wars.
